Player actions and services

Use these controls after acquiring an enabled, published skill. Your server and current character determine availability, duration, price and cooldown.

Contents

Activate skills

Open Special Skills or use /skillbar for action controls. /skillbar edit chooses displayed slots. Activate with /skill <action ID> [target]. For example, /skill node-indicator sulfur searches for sulfur within the configured targets.

Use /skill stop <action ID> or Close on a view to stop it. Stopping does not shorten its original lockout. Read current settings in Help: ranks do not automatically multiply every effect. One private resource/navigation viewer is shown at a time.

Resource and movement actions

Action ID How to use it
node-indicator Find configured ore nodes on a private radar and distance/bearing list
instant-node Hit an eligible ore node with a normal gathering tool during the active window to finish harvesting it
instant-tree Hit an eligible tree with a normal gathering tool during the active window to finish harvesting it
resource-finder Find configured wild foods and plants; cultivated planter crops are excluded
speed-run Sprint forward while grounded for the configured speed bonus
multi-jump Use the configured extra jumps during its active window

Instant harvesting does not extend melee reach. Tool wear, native gathering checks, yield and inventory rules still apply. Target filters can narrow a skill's authored list, never expand it.

Other special actions

Action ID Effect and limits
hunters-sense View nearby supported wildlife; excludes owned animals and human NPCs
efficient-gatherer Improve supported native wood/ore yields
tool-care Reduce wear on actively held tools and weapons; does not repair them
field-medic Improve successful medical healing and revive health; normal item consumption applies
farmers-touch Improve native crop harvest yield; does not accelerate growth
sure-footed Reduce fall damage
deep-diver Slow oxygen depletion and boost supported forward swimming; does not remove drowning
weatherproof Reduce heat/cold damage; does not prevent radiation, hunger or thirst
craft-focus Shorten supported native player craft cycles; excludes paid custom production orders
mechanic Improve supported native repairs; normal material costs and permission checks remain
pathfinder Give directions to unfinished Explore quest destinations within range; does not complete them
team-rally Protect nearby members of your current Rust team; the strongest eligible effect applies

Social and utility actions

Action ID Effect and limits
fishermans-instinct Assist native fishing while holding a rod; bait and catch rules still apply
salvager Add supported retained recycler output without changing consumed inputs or spilling excess goods
merchants-eye Show nearby enabled trader offers and current quotes
negotiator Apply an eligible discount within the merchant's configured cap
repair-specialist Offer a quoted equipment repair requiring recipient consent
tracking Show recent wildlife tracks, not player positions
animal-handler Improve the mounted horse's supported gallop; does not tame wildlife
rescue-carry Offer a carry to a consenting wounded Rust teammate
scavengers-sense Show eligible public crates/barrels; excludes owned, protected and special containers
surveyor Show nearby recorded land ownership and grid boundaries
business-insight Show your character's authorized business information and supported production status
instructor Offer an owned skill through the learner's normal eligibility and price checks
quiet-steps Assist ordinary grounded walking with native stealth; sprinting and swimming pause it
pack-mule Temporarily expand supported inventory capacity, then let occupied overflow drain safely

When Pack Mule ends, move overflow items into ordinary space. Automatic intake can pause until overflow is cleared. The skill does not delete items to shrink your inventory.

Offer or accept a service

Activate the relevant skill, then use its offered controls or these commands:

Command Purpose
/skillservice rescue <player Steam ID> Offer a wounded teammate a carry
/skillservice release Release a carry; either participant can use it
/skillservice repair <player Steam ID> Offer repair of the recipient's held damaged equipment
/skillservice instruct <player Steam ID> <skill ID> Offer an eligible skill you own
/skillrepair status Read the original saved repair/payment request

The recipient receives a private invitation with Accept and Decline/Close. Repair shows its fixed condition target and full charge. Keep an empty main-inventory slot for the equipment. Paid instruction needs its own displayed payment confirmation.

Acceptance rechecks distance, sight, characters, ownership and other conditions. Invitations expire. A carry can end when team, wound, character or connection state changes.

For a pending paid repair, inspect the original status and contact staff with its request ID. Do not pay again to resolve an uncertain first request.

Government identity documents

Where enabled, use /id or the offered identity controls to view or present an ID. Review the fields you disclose. Hidden fields cannot satisfy an NPC's required profession, faction or rank.

Registry checks and presentation checks follow different server policies. Registry checks can reject forged or stolen credentials. A visual copy or presented claim does not automatically become a genuine registered identity.

To add a portrait, open /id portrait while near a photographer holding an active instant camera. Stand within 3 metres and authorize them from the list or use /id portrait <Steam ID>. They have 90 seconds to take the photo. Review the crop privately and Save within 120 seconds, or Discard to keep your previous portrait. Headshots are public by default: check your disclosure setting. Clearing a saved portrait requires its separate confirmation.

Use /id claim or /id replace <approved bot ID> where allowed to obtain or replace a tag. /id close closes the display. An acquired Counterfeiting skill can permit /id forge Name | profession ID | profession rank | faction ID | faction rank when Core's policy allows it. Counterfeiting has no timed skill-bar action and does not grant the claimed roles.

Portrait and tag availability depend on server policy. Obtain or replace credentials through the configured in-game process. Ask staff if a missing ID blocks an essential service.

Trader quotes and confirmation

Use /trader buy <bot ID> <offer ID> [quantity] to request a nearby character-specific quote. This does not charge or reserve stock. Inspect the item, quantity, total currency charge and ID requirement.

Confirm with /trader confirm <token> within 30 seconds. /trader cancel discards an unsubmitted quote. Changed offers, identity policy or character state can invalidate confirmation.

ID and skill discounts do not stack; the best eligible discount is limited by the merchant's cap. Inspect a pending purchase's original receipt before attempting another purchase.

When an action stops

Effects can end on expiry, death, wounds, sleep, disconnect, character changes, ownership loss or catalog changes. Current-session cooldowns can remain after reconnecting. Read the displayed state before reactivating.
